About The Paw Test

The Paw Test is dedicated to Zulu, my dog of many years. He walked on hot, hard surfaces, and keeping his paws safe taught me how hard it is to find honest, practical advice about paw protection. Most "best of" lists are written by people who never read what real owners say.

Now I live in Toronto, where the problem is the opposite: road salt, slush and deep cold. So every guide here collects and counts first-hand reports from real dog owners, links every source, and says plainly when something hasn't been tested here.

How products are chosen

Unless a section says it was tested here, the products on this site were not used by us. Each guide is built from what owners report: first-hand posts on Reddit, reviews on brand and retailer sites (labelled, because brands can filter them), and independent hands-on tests, with a link to every source. Product specs come from the manufacturers. No brand pays us or sends us products; if that ever changes, it's disclosed next to the product.

Prices aren't shown on this site because they change often. Each "Check price on Amazon" button takes you to Amazon, where you see the current price.

How the site makes money
